Remote Learning if your child's bubble is at home:

This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers, about what to expect from remote education if government guidance requires entire cohorts (or bubbles) or the whole school to remain at home.

What is taught each day?

Our aim is to provide a broad and rich curriculum, even if the children may be unable to come in to school. Children in Years 1 to 6 will have an English and a Maths activity set every day, along with another activity from one of the following subjects: Science, Topic (history and geography), PE, Art and PSHE.

We want the children to be able to interact with their teachers at a time that is most convenient to you. All of the lessons will contain either a video of the teacher explaining the task, a Power Point style slide with some recorded narration or a combination of the two. The teachers will also provide feedback against the work that the children submit. Within this feedback there will be opportunities for the teacher to ask a variety of questions to help consolidate learning and to move the children on further. The teachers will be available to give feedback and to answer any queries between 9.00am and 4.00pm. If you send a direct message to them outside of these hours then they will most likely reply to you the following day.

How much learning is set each day?
Key Stage 1:
3 hours of remote learning per day
Key Stage 2: 4 hours of remote learning per day
Reception and Pre-school: There will be new activities set each day which aim to help the children in all areas of the Early years Framework.

Whilst the school has been set these expectations by the government, our message to you is to do what you can. The activities will stay for as long as you need them however we know that uncompleted tasks can mount up and that this can cause anxiety and worry for the children and for yourselves. It is more important that you balance your home life and the remote learning so please do not feel pressured if you find that there are tasks which remain incomplete.

Live sessions:
Every day, your child has the opportunity to take part in a 30-minute live sessions with their teacher using Microsoft Teams. The first 15 minutes will be an interactive activity whilst the second half will be used to answer any questions that the children may have about their home learning. Seeing their teacher as well as their friends is also great for the children's well-being.
The link to your child's Teams session will be posted as an announcement on Seesaw.

How children can access the remote learning:

The remote learning will be posted on our online learning platform, Seesaw. This is the same programme that we have used since September to deliver all of our homework so we are hopeful that this will bring some familiarity to you.

The children all have their own individual login and password. If you need help with your login details, please contact office@haltoncc.school

New activities will be posted at 9.00am every morning and will remain accessible until they have been completed.

Not all of the work requires a computer or electronic device and we have therefore provided an exercise book for all of our children to use for particular tasks. If you require a new book because you have finished the one you have, contact the office and we will put one in our 'Drop box' for you.

Key worker children:
Children in the Key Worker Childcare group will have access to their remote learning every day. They will also take part in the daily Microsoft Teams sessions.

Additional support available:

We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs (SEN), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils in various ways. This can include:
  •  Offering a place to SEN pupils in our Key Worker group
  •  We will differentiate work for individuals who are at the extremes of the ability scale by adapting the year group activities appropriately
  •  Class teacher will provide on-going email and telephone support for families
  •  SENCo will communicate regularly with families of children with SEND to ensure their needs are being met

Borrowing electronic devices:
We acknowledge that not all pupils have the same access to electronic devices and that this puts those children at a disadvantage. We are always keen to help so if you require help in obtaining a laptop or a tablet, please contact office@haltoncc.school and we will do our best to provide you with a device at the earliest possible moment.
