What to do if you are worried that your child is showing symptoms of Covid:

If your child displays any of the following symptoms:
  • a high temperature – as well as obtaining a measured temperature, this also means they feel hot to touch on their chest or back
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if theyusually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste – this means they've noticed they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
  • Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.

    What to do:
If they have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:

  • Get a test to check if they have coronavirus as soon as possible.
  • Contact the school office on 01296 622264 or office@haltoncc.school as soon as possible to inform them that you are seeking a test for your child.
  • You and anyone who lives with them should stay at home and not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.
  • Anyone in your support bubble should also stay at home if you have been in close contact with them since their symptoms started or during the 48 hours before they started.
  • Contact the school office to notify us of the test results, including if the test is negative.
  • Your child should only return to school once the relevant isolation period has been completed.

Self-testing of Primary School staff

From Monday 25th January our school will be participating in the government self-testing programme. The aim of this is to help to identify positive Covid cases more quickly, particularly for those adults who are positive but asymptomatic. Staff in school will test themselves twice per week and must register the test results with NHS Test & Trace.
