Welcome to Year 4. This year we will be studying the Saxons and the Normans in the Autumn term. We will be looking at the way that the Saxons used to live and how they have shaped the landscape around us and will then think about the Norman invasion and the Battle of Hastings. Our Spring term topic will be Roald Dahl and we will be reading as many books as we can as we immerse ourselves in his wonderful world of writing. In the Summer we will be studying the local area and using our knowledge of human and physical geography to develop our understanding of how our local area has been created.
The homework that is set for you is designed to help you share what you have learnt in class with the people in your home. If you need to see some of the beautiful examples of homework that I am lucky enough to read each week then do ask me.
PE is on a Tuesday afternoon though it is advisable to bring your PE kit in on the Monday and take it home on the Friday.
Homework is given out once every half term and is a project that is done in your Learning Journals. Every week you will be given spellings and times tables to practise and these are written in your Spelling books and handed in on a Monday.
We start each week with a times tables test and these sheets are also sent home so that you can practise them for the following Monday.
Children should read every day at home and it is expected that this will be recorded in their Home School Diary.
