As part of our 'Flight' topic we have been finishing our Fridays by having lots of exciting activities and visitors.
Making paper aeroplanes
We watched a video on YouTube and followed the instructions accurately. Then we got to fly them! Luke's plane flew 11 metres in distance! When we added together how far all of our planes flew, we found out that we had flown further than the Wright Brothers!
Instructors and apprentices
We found out about the history of RAF Halton and about the role of instructors and apprentices. We followed the base motto of 'Teach Learn Apply' and taught the Year 1 children how to make a paper aeroplane as well as some names of different parts of an aeroplane. The Year 1 apprentices all passed!
Squadron Leader Hamilton came to visit us and he brought some of his flying models with him! He taught us some of the science behind how planes fly and he also did a flying demonstration in the dining hall!
Mrs Brown visited our class and told us all about her job working for British Airways
