​Adverse Weather


Adverse Weather Conditions:

If we need to close the school due to adverse weather conditions the following procedures will be used to inform parents/carers:

  1. A decision will be made about school closure by 07.00. This decision will be based on health and safety grounds, which may include not having enough staff at school to supervise our pupils or the school site becoming unsafe.
  2. A Parent Pay message will be sent to everyone informing you that school is closed.
  3. The County Council’s website will list our school closure:
  4. The scrolling banner along the bottom of the home page on the school website will inform you that school is closed.



Please note:


If the notices listed above have not been implemented then you should assume that the school will remain open.

With these methods of communication in place, there should be no need for parents to telephone the school asking whether we will be open or closed.

Should the school open but need to close earlier than 15.00, parents/carers will be contacted via Parent Pay. Please ensure that we always have up-to-date contact details.

Please be assured that school closure will always be a last resort.

It is entirely the responsibility of the parent/carer to decide whether it is safe to travel to and from school in inclement weather and we respect the choices that you make. As usual please inform the school by telephone or by email if your child will be absent from school.

​From past experience we know that the roads and paths leading to school can become dangerous when we have ice and snow and we would advise that you allow enough time for your journey to school if we are open. 

Home learning:

In the case of adverse weather, your child's class teacher will set home learning activities on Seesaw for your child to do. These will be uploaded as close to 9.00am as possible.
